PRUDHOE resident Richard Davies crossed the line in third as the latest instalment of a series of runs on Tynedale’s remote roads.

Davies, running for Elswick Harriers but also a member of Prudhoe triathlon club Castle Tri, put in a great performance to take third spot in the Run Northumberland Stamfordham 10K.

His time of 38 minutes and 48 seconds saw him finish behind winner Alex Kiel (34:06), of Darlington-based Quakers Running Club, and runner-up Paul Coon (63:29), of Derwent AC Cockermouth.

Davies’ involvement wasn’t finished there though as his performance helped Elswick to the team prize, with clubmates Paul Robinson (40:09) and Scott Brady (40:59) in ninth and 15th respectively.

Corbridge resident Fiona Belgian matched Davies’ achievement in the women’s race as the Jog on the Tyne member claimed third spot, to finish 22nd overall from the field of 139 finishers.

She crossed in a time of 42:24 to be crowned fastest veteran 35 runner, and was just over a second off Gateshead Harrier Sarah Hill (41:17) and second placed Catherine Young (41:40), of Claremont Road Runners.

With Rebecca Parkin (44:19) fourth fastest female, Tyne Bridge Harriers claimed the women’s team prize.

Ponteland Runners produced the fastest V55 participant as John McGargill (40:12) put in a great performance to clinch 10th place overall. His clubmate David Levison (42:09) just finished out of the top 20.

First home for Tynedale Harriers was Peter Graham who was the fastest V65 runner, his time of 46:30 seeing him to 35th overall.
