PHIL Dalton is enjoying a purple patch at Haltwhistle as some excellent golf helped him to three trophies.

He started his silverware haul with two rounds of 70 to earn the 36 Hole Championship well ahead of runner-up Trevor Jackson (78,79).

This was quickly followed by the lifting of the Stanegate Shield as figures of 70-5-65 saw him finish ahead of David Bell (80-11-69) and Tom House (81-11-70). He again showed his form to finish ahead of Trevor Jackson (71,72) with two rounds of 65 to win the Stanegate Cup.

At Allendale it was the turn of the ladies’ skipper Fran Philipson to enjoy glory. In extremely gusty conditions, she won the Allendale Sports Club Open with 33 points, on countback from R. Mordue.

Philipson then created a new ladies’ course record of 77 and a chip in eagle two on the 18th by partner Kevin Philipson to win the Deanholme Bowl Pairs Strokeplay with a nett 60 from Ian Crocker and Colin Wraith’s 61. Geoff Edwards and Robin Makepeace were third on 62.

Still on top form is the junior captain, Jamie Brown who won the Sinderhope Cup with 39 from Jim Hall (38).

Men’s captain, Kevin Philipson teamed up with Jake Reed to win the adult / junior pairs Midsummer Greensome’s trophy from Neil Forsyth and Charlie Wilson.

The gents‘ medal was won by Ron Jamieson (87-21-66) from John Colman (95-28-67). The ladies‘ medal was won by Pat Hignett (93-24-69) from Debbie Carter (101-24-70).

Elsewhere at Allendale, the Midsummer Medford, where nine holes of stableford are deducted from nine holes of strokeplay, was won by Neil Forsyth (29-17-12) from Malcolm Aitchinson (34-17-13) and Fran Philipson (30–17-13).

Over at Bellingham, the Ladies’ Marie Curie / Eileen Martin competition was won by Brenda Morpeth, (43) from Pat Hignett (34) and Di Hutchinson (33).

The medal championship qualifier winner was Andrew Lynn (89-22-67) ahead of Alec Jones (72-4-68) and Anthony Gray (84-12-72).

Jack Johnstone (82-9-73) won the Jack Familton Shield, with Stewart Jones (83-9-74) second and Brian Hardon (86-12-74) third.

Philip Spottiswood (79-13-66) won the Goodinson Cup from Jonny Herdman (73-5-68) and third placed Willie Irving (82-13-69).

The Stableford Cup qualifier was Chris Wright (38), with Alec Jones (38) second and Michael Davison (37) third.

The ladies’’ nine hole handicap qualifier was won by Josephine Dickson (17), while Jane Jones (89-13-76) won the Ladies Challenge Cup ahead of Lorna Thornton (103-26-77) and Di Hutchinson (91-18-73), who won the Ladies’ England Golf Medal ahead of Shirley Carruthers (102-24-78).

In the ladies’ invitation day, Christine Robson and Rothbury’s Jen Largish andAnn Murphy were triumphant.

Alan Currie (78-10-68) won the President’s Medal. In second was David Scott (71-3-68) and Chris Clark (73-5-68) was third.
