In a year which saw the club win the Tynedale Trophy and Club of the Year at the Sport Tynedale Awards to go with the silverware for being named Northumberland Lawn Tennis Association’s (NLTA) top club, spirits were understandably high among the 30 plus attendees.
NLTA chairman Chris Lott was on hand to present the trophies at the club which was gained a huge amount of praise for developing through difficult times, after being hit by Storm Desmond in December 2015.
Corbridge enjoyed a great deal of success on the court too with five of their six teams in the Northumberland and Durham League gaining promotion by finishing in the top two of their respective divisions. The club will enter a seventh team this year.
Steve Warren won the men’s singles and Caroline Zuch the women’s, while Daniel Senior was crowned the junior champion.
Caroline teamed up with Rachel Salthouse to take the women’s doubles, while Daniel Senior and Simon MacLeod took the men’s crown. Edward and Suzie Aitchison were triumphant in the mixed doubles.
