MOVING up to fourth spot in Division One of the Northumbria League in the process, Matfen Centurions slowed down Riding Mill B’s push at the top of the table.

Matfen defeated their second placed rivals 8-2 as man of the match Neil Forsyth won all three of his games, and Chris Kilsby and Alex Holliday won two each.

Forsyth and Holliday won their doubles match-up too, with Maurice Cheek picking up two points for Mill.

In the same division, seventh placed Newton B drew 5-5 with Byker B (Robert Lawson 2, David Lucas 2, Lawson & Lucas).

Matfen Whitley Chapel were big 9-1 winners over Cramlington Lions in Division Three (Stefan Sobell 3, Linda Pinkham 3, Peter Seago 2, Pinkham & Sobell).

Matfen Cohorts , featuring young siblings Tom and Lizzie Scott, are still looking for their first of the season as they went down 10-0 to Cramlington Cobras.

Newton C remain mid-table in Division Four as they lost 8-2 at Cramlington Ravens (Julian Manuel 1, Raymond Lazareto 1).
