A PRUDHOE High School pupil is creating a big buzz in the kickboxing ring.

Callum Beeckmans (13) had everybody talking as tremendous roundhouse kicking and punching combinations saw him to a second successive ring fight victory at the Christmas Cracker Pro Championship Kickboxing event, in Blackburn.

Callum, a member of Crawcrook-based Aiki Kickboxing along with younger brother Owen, impressed during the three two-minute rounds, setting the tone from the start as he won on a unanimous judges’ decision.

His father Mark said: “He was up against an opponent who looked more muscly, but when I told people Callum had just turned 13 they were gobsmacked.

“He just kept everything together and kept his bigger opponent away with tremendous spinning kicks, and it was unbelievable that he came away with the trophy

“People were saying that they could tell by the first round he was dominating, and he did everything asked of him by his instructor Scott Emmerson.

“The fight was put on Facebook Live and there were hundreds of comments about him, and I was so proud to say he was my son!”
