WHILE Elvaston were enjoying bragging rights, town rivals Hexham House were also celebrating.
For both Hexham teams gained promotion to Division One of the Nines League, Elvaston scooping the Division Two championship by ending the campaign with a 6-2 triumph over House in a thriller which ended almost in darkness.
With the West Tyne League over, attention turned to the Nines but Elvaston started the week with a thumping 8-0 loss away to Wallsend A. Hexham House then defeated Wallsend 6-2 the following evening.
Elvaston were then scheduled to play Wallsend B but that was rained off and, since Wallsend could not offer a date for the rearranged fixture, they had to concede which boosted Elvaston ahead of their crunch match-up with House.
