Ovingham brothers in arms

TWO young runners from Ovingham have continued a string of successes with outstanding performances at recent high profile races in the North East and Scotland.

Nathan and Kieran Newton, who are 13 and 11 respectively, won their age categories in the Junior Great Edinburgh Run last month.

In the Junior Coastal Run in Sunderland on June 15, then, Kieran won the 8-11 age group, while Nathan came sixth in the 12-14s.

Both runners, who have represented Northumberland in the past, are members of the Gateshead Harriers and are coached by Kevin Flannery.

They each started in the sport aged eight and currently train four times a week.
