Alan wins on raid by Reivers

HEXHAM Golf Club Reivers enjoyed their annual outing to compete for the Ogram Trophy at Woodham Golf and Country Club, in County Durham.

Alan Dodd was the winner with 37 points after countback, from Tony Irish also with 37 points.

The Thursday Stableford Division One was won by Martin Lamb (43pts), followed by Curt Banks (40pts), with Andrew Crawford (39 pts) third after countback.

Division Two was won by Bob Bailey (41pts), followed by David Robinson (40pts); John Davy (39pts) was third after countback.

A Junior Medal was won by Liam O’Carroll (84-19-65).

Michael Gardner (76-8-68) was second, and Andrew Crawford (74-6-68) third, after countback.

The Hexham Golf Club Men’s Open was won after countback by David Murray (Hexham) and Dougie Nicholson (Bellingham) with 44 points.

Two Hexham pairs, Chris Clark and Stuart Rutherford, Cliff Watson and Richard Dodd, also with 44 points, were second and third.

Two visiting pairs on 43 points, C.Hunter and I. Dixon (Westerhope), C. McIntosh and P Bewley (Carlisle) were fourth and fifth.

The other prizewinners were Hexham pairs all with 42 points – Rob Cowley and Kim Steward (6th), Ian Robinson and Robert Noble (7th), Tony Hornsby and Rennie Wood (8th).

The Ouston Trophy for Mixed Pairs was won by Mike Burke and Janet Purdy (net 65.6).

Second were David and Mary Oliver(net 68.4), and third Mike and Viv Younger (net 68.6).

Nineteen teams of four took part in a very successful “Am-Am” event in support of the Junior Fund.

The winners were “Team Laidler” (87pts); “Fairway Ramblers” (84pts) were second, and “Jobson’s Juniors” (82 pts) third.

The Connell Salvers Greensome v Bogey Competion was won by David Arthur and Alfie Carlisle (level) after countback from Roly Lyons and Bob Scott (level). Third were Phil and James Rainford (-2).
