Ready for pie and peas

THE increasingly popular Tynedale 10k race takes place on Wednesday, at 7.30pm at Ovington Social Club.
The first section features some of the best sights in North-East athletics as the runners stream downhill towards Ovingham.
After the fast first mile the route is fairly flat, passing through Ovingham, and running along the river towards Wylam.
The runners pass through Wylam, along George Stephenson Terrace. The route then follows the tracks along the river towards Low Prudhoe Country Park.
It is a fast, flat route, suitable for all standards of runner.
All participants get the traditional pie and peas supper after the evening’s racing.
Last year’s winner was Stewy Bell, from the Chester-le-Street, who finished with a time of 31 minutes, 48 seconds.
The final finisher took 1 hour, 12 minutes, which shows the race caters for all abilities.
As last year, the roads from Ovington to Ovingham, and Ovingham to Wylam will be closed for the duration of the race.
The roads should be closed from approximately 7.15pm to 8.15pm, subject to council approval.
Those who still wish to take part are advised that there will probably be a small number of entries available on the day from the race headquarters at Ovingham Middle school from 6pm.
Tynedale Harriers would like to thank all those who support the race, especially Arnold Clark, which has agreed to continue the sponsorship previously given by Patterson Ford.
