GOLFERS at Tynedale’s 100-year-old golf club have revealed their ambition to make it one of the best short track courses in the North- East.
Tynedale Golf Club celebrated its centenary on Saturday and discussed plans to improve the course.
Although the club cannot extend its premises because it is flanked by the River Tyne and the railway line, it aims to provide the best nine-hole course throughout the county.
Club captain Steve Plemper said: “For the future, we aim to maintain the club and its current successful regime.
“We want to make it the best nine-hole club in Northumberland through the quality and maintenance of the course.”
Members and friends of the club past and present members raised a toast to the success of the club over the last 100 years last weekend.
A dinner dance was organised at the function suite at Hexham Mart.
Club captain Steve Plemper said: “For a small club like ourselves, to achieve something like this is really fantastic going.
“We have all worked hard and moved from a little green hut on the Tyne Green to a nice new clubhouse.”
Numerous events have been arranged throughout the year in celebration of the club’s landmark.
