MORE than 300 runners followed the course of the Tyne to complete the Tynedale 10k last Wednesday.

They left Ovington in glorious sunshine for the Tynedale Harriers organised race which concluded at the Tyne Riverside Country Park at Prudhoe.

Runners in the race, supported by Wylam Garage, were treated to a pie and peas supper, courtesy of the Adam and Eve pub in Prudhoe, after the finish.

First home, in a quick time of 32:47, was Mark Fenwick, from Tyne Bridge Harriers. He finished comfortably ahead of Liam Taylor, with Matthew Hornsby, from Durham City Harriers, in third.

The first woman across the line was Judith Nutt, from Elswick Harriers, in a time of 39 minutes.

Ian Dixon, of Sunderland Harriers, was first V40 runner, with a time of 34.14. First V45 runner was Alastair Spanner of Tyne Bridge Harriers (36:52), with John Whitfield of North Shield Polytechnic (39:09) first in the V50 classification.

The first runner from Tynedale Harriers across the finish line was Steven Reynolds, in a time of 41:46.
