TEMPERATURES soured as hundreds of competitors lined up for Hexham Running Festival on Sunday.
Around 700 athletes took part in the event, which included the third annual Hexham Half Marathon.
Hexham Abbey provided the backdrop for the start of the challenging route, which took place in the countryside around Corbridge and Anick.
Race organisers praised participants for their endurance in the hot weather, and said the event, which also included a 10k race, was a success.
