DIVISION Two strugglers Adam and Eve Prudhoe put their league woes behind them to cause an upset in the John Pickworth League Cup.

Slumped to the bottom of the table and on minus points, the Youth Club youngsters shocked in-form Division One side Prudhoe Town to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Sam Calkin scored twice and Freddie Allan and Harry Beswick-Maddocks the others in the 4-2 victory, with goalkeeper Ryan Chambers named man of the match.

For an off key Town, Martin Nugent and man of the match Ste Forster found the back of the net.

Joining Adam and Eve in the final eight of the cup is Division One leaders Prudhoe Social Club who thumped divisional rivals Phoenix Chopwell 7-1.

Stefan Rainbow and James Curry both hit doubles, with man of the match Shaun Stewart, Matthew Hopkins and James Watson all adding their names to the scoresheet.

Thomas Ridley hit Phoenix‘s reply, while Stephen Smith was their star man.

Teenager Lewis Loughhead is the new leading goalscorer in Division One as his hat-trick helped Hexham Phoenix to go joint top with Prudhoe.

He starred in his side’s 6-1 win over an understrength Bardon Mill Bowes Lyon side, joined on the scoresheet by teammates James Owen, Luke Parkinson and Patrick McAlindon.

Tony Lancaster was their man of the match, while Mill teenager Ciaran Fleming earned his side‘s equivalent and Rob Hayes got their only goal.

Trebles from both man of the match Dan Walker and Sean Hownam saw Heddon St Andrew’s extend their lead at the top of Division Two.

With Mark Murtagh also netting, they defeated Haltwhistle Railway , who only had 10 players for the encounter, 7-0 as Michael Telford starred for the visitors.

Haltwhilste Jubilee had six different scorers on the board as they made the quarter-finals of the Tommy Jackson Presidents Cup, defeating Halfway House Prudhoe 6-1.

Dan Kirkup, Mark Robson, James Charteries, Shaun Johnstone, Greg Irwin and Norman Calvert all netted, while Jamie Peel was man of the match. Thomas Tremble replied for Prudhoe who were best served by Danny Driver.

Barrasford progressed in style too as man of the match Marc Nixon hit five goals in the 8-1 demolition of Division Two side Hexhamshire .

Gary Nixon, David Hall and Dan Stokoe also registered, with Richie Mark on target for ‘Shire and Lee Riley man of the match.
