A SECOND successive victory jumped Tynedale Ladies up to seventh in the North East Women‘s Premier Division.

They stunned fifth placed Scunthorpe and Bottesford Ladies 2-0 to move up three places, to give them a margin of four points ahead of second bottom Sheffield United Community Ladies who they face this weekend.

The opening half was a quiet affair in terms of chances, but the best chance fell to Megan Watson who received a pull back from Christine Murray six yards out but fired her shot past the post.

It remained goalless at the break with Tynedale’s defence having to be on the top of their game to keep out a Scunthorpe side boosted by the strong winds.

Tynedale looked to get in between their opponents as they started the second half on top, and they found the opener on 10 minutes through a great move.

Watson received a return pass from Murray and she worked some space for herself before curling the ball into the bottom corner.

Tyne remained on top and extended their lead with 20 minutes remaining, a corner from Murray met by Vicky Mudd who powered her header past the Scunthorpe goalkeeper to put her side firmly in the driving seat.

The game started to fizzle out but Tynedale came close to adding a third when Mudd was unable to flick the ball past the keeper after getting on the end of a square ball from Watson.
