THE winners of the Wade Financial U14 Trophy will hail from the Tyne Valley.

For Hexham U14 and Wylam Rockettes U1 4 will battle it out for the trophy after securing their passage beyond the semi-finals at the weekend. Strikes from Megan Boyd, Emily Monnelly and Abi Marrow went along an own goal as Hexham, best served by Eva Straughan, inflicted a 4-0 defeat on an improved Alnwick Town to make the final.

There they will meet a Wylam side who were similarly in great form as they defeated Newcastle Westgate 3-0, courtesy of goals from Emma Boaden, Josie Fenwick and Courtney Peel. For her important role in the game, Anna May Slowie was named girl of the game.

Clubmates Wylam Rockettes U13 have their own Wade Financial League Cup final to look forward to after a great display saw them defeat North Shields 5-2.

It was a tight affair until Wylam cranked up the pressure in the second half, a hat-trick from girl of the game Stacy Billinghurst adding to singles from Josie Fenwick and Eve Cunliffe.

Hexham U13 agonisingly missed out on a place in the final of the Wade Financial Trophy as they went down to an extra time goal to Swalwell Swifts. Josie Cawood hit both of her side’s goals as the teams were level at 2-2 after normal time, but Swalwell produced a dramatic winner despite the best efforts of Hexham’s girl of the game Hannah Johnson.

There was double disappointment for Tynedale teams contesting the semi-finals of the U16 Trophy, with Wylam Rockettes U16 losing 3-1 to St Cuthbert’s Amazons and Hexham U16 going down 2-0 to Tynemouth United.

Ruth Owen impressed for Wylam, who had Sophie Rogers on target, while Elley Rayne excelled for Hexham.

A hat-trick from Charlotte Murray wasn’t enough for Haltwhistle United U18 as they lost 5-3 at Westmoor, despite goalkeeper Shauna Henderson helping herself to yet another girl of the game award.

There was repeat frustration for Wylam Rockettes U12 in Le Championette as, seven days after losing to the only goal to Blyth Town Pumas, they went down 1-0 again to the same opponents. Lucy Martin was Wylam’s star player.
