THE Clayton Charity Cup finalists will be decided tonight - although fans may need to take their calculators along to work out who has made it through!

With a point up-for-grabs at the end of each group game through a penalty shoot-out, three teams can still top Group A and, thus, make it through to next Wednesday night's final at Prudhoe High School.

Should group leaders Haltwhistle Jubilee beat Hexham, they're through, plain and simple, regardless if they win the shoot-out or not. They would go to nine points and couldn't be caught.

If Hexham win, they may need the bonus point from the penalties to book their place to take them to 8.5 for the tournament (they and Winlaton Vulcans were awarded 0.5 points each as their shoot-out couldn't go ahead following an injury).

If they win the game to go to 7.5 points but lose the shoot-out, they could be denied progress by Prudhoe YC Seniors should they get all four points against Winlaton.

Prudhoe's best chance of making the final would be if Haltwhistle and Hexham draw, which could mean that they only need three points against Winlaton should Hexham win the shoot-out!

Making things slightly simpler, with just 0.5 points to their name, Winlaton cannot progress even if they pick up maximum points.

Phew, that was hard work.

Thankfully, the scenario in Group B couldn't be any more simpler as Ponteland United and Prudhoe Town are locked in a decider.

Prudhoe need a win to go through as any thing else would not be good enough, the team currently one point behind Ponteland who have won both their shoot-outs to Prudhoe's one.

Should the game end in a draw, Ponteland will go through as, even if Town win the shoot-out to go level on nine points, United have a better goal difference.

In the other game, to be held tomorrow evening at Consett Leisure Centre, Blackhill Ebchester need a win against Wallington in order to move off the foot of the table.

Neither side can make the final, but the team which finishes bottom will contest the final of the Stan Jackson Cup against the Group A basement side on Monday evening.
