A HAT-TRICK from Dan Thompson saw Wallington do their mates at Ponteland United a huge favour.

Thompson’s treble saw the Greens to a fantastic 4-3 victory over second placed Newcastle University, allowing United to close the gap and keep in touching distance of the teams at the top.

The striker has been in great goal scoring form since being banned back in October, and he was the match winner as Wallington moved up one place to 11th after the shock result.

He was joined on the scoresheet by strike partner John Paxton who got the ball rolling for the Scots Gap side before Thompson stole the show.
