KIMBERLY Park continues to serve Prudhoe Town well as they jumped into the top half of the table.

Making it nine wins from 11 home games, the Citizens were excellent as they put three without reply past eighth-placed Coxhoe Athletic.

Asking all the questions of their visitors, their pressure was rewarded when they were awarded a penalty after a Coxhoe defender handled in the area which was confidently stroked home by midfielder Derek Waters.

Prudhoe kept up the pressure and they doubled their lead through a wonder goal from teenager Sam Mannion, the strike leaving Athletic goalkeeper David Atkinson no chance. Atkinson was awarded the man of the match award for keeping his side in the game, but he was again powerless as Ste Forster kept his scoring form going to make it three five minutes after the break.

Town continued to control the game but couldn’t add to their tally, the final whistle seeing them extend their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.

While unable to find the back of the net, Arron Fletcher impressed throughout and was voted man of the match by the opposition.

There was frustration for the team in orange on Tuesday evening as their game at Seaham Red Star Reserves was unable to get started.

Despite making the trip, the hosts were unable to get the electrictiy in the changing rooms working, meaning neither side could get changed for the match-up even though the floodlights were working.

l Prudhoe Town Women are still flirting dangerously towards the foot of the Northern Division of the North East Women’s Football League after they were beaten 6-2 at Blyth Town Lions.

Travelling up north with 11 players, consolation goals came from Catherine Johnston and Samantha Garcia. Johnston stuck one minute before half time, with Garcia’s goal two minutes before the end.
