THROWN in two days after signing, Prudhoe‘s Jak Alnwick kept a clean sheet for new side Port Vale.

The goalkeeper, who started out as a youth with Prudhoe YC, signed for the League One side on a short-term contract last Thursday, and played all 90 minutes in the Valiants’ goalless draw with Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

The 22-year-old was released by Newcastle United in the summer after eight first team appearances with the Premier League outfit last term when deputising for the injured pair of Tim Krul and Rob Elliott.

His spell between the sticks was a tough introduction to the Football League after only making appearances with Gateshead in the National League, and he spent the end of last term with League One‘s Bradford City.

The brother of Peterborough United goalkeeper Ben has been looking for a club since United let him leave in July, snapped up by Vale just before the season opener after an unsuccessful trial with Leeds United, of the Championship.
