PRUDHOE Town were unable to cope with set pieces into their area as they went down 4-1 at Wearside League leaders Redcar Athletic.

While matching their high flying visitors elsewhere, they conceded three goals from free kicks into the box to deny them in their pursuit of anything from the league game.

They started the better team and had a glorious chance to take the lead early on, but Sam Mannion blazed his effort over from close range.

However, they were ahead on 15 minutes when a great flowing move upfield was finished in fantastic style with Arron Fletcher sending a bullet header past Redcar stopper Will Lawrence.

But the scores were level 10 minutes later when, after a contentious free kick was awarded to Athletic, they capitalised and sent home the set piece.

Reeling with the referee‘s decision, Prudhoe lost their way a bit and found themselves trailing as Redcar again scored from a free kick to take the score to 2-1.

The lead was extended 20 minutes into the second half when Prudhoe’s Josh Brooks put past his own goalkeeper, and the game was wrapped up with a fourth Redcar goal with 15 left to play.
