RIVALS Hexham Phoenix and Haltwhistle Jubilee will resume hostilities for the League Cup.

The teams booked their place in the final of the competition at the weekend, Phoenix looking to deny the dominant Haltwhistle from claiming a clean sweep domestically.

Goals from man of the match Tony Lancaster, Matthew MacLoughling, Stephen Leetham and Callum Duncan saw Hexham to a 4-2 victory over Heddon St Andrew’s, who had man of the match Ross Bailey and Mark Richardson on target.

Ahead of their President’s Cup semi-final with Bardon Mill Bowes Lyons on Sunday, Haltwhistle put two goals past Prudhoe Social Club to progress to the League Cup showdown.

Man of the match Mark Armstrong and Dan Kirkup got their goals to deny Prudhoe, who were best served by Stefan Rainbow.

Haydon Bridge Anchor will play Division One football next season after a 4-1 victory over Prudhoe Town East End secured a top two finish in Division Two.

Two goals from Kevin Rogerson and strikes from Kieran Robley and Kev MacDonald, and a man of the match display from Ryan Robley got the promotion party started for Bridge.

They are now targeting the title and were boosted in their challenge as leaders Ryton Country House let slip a 3-1 lead to Haltwhistle Railway to draw 3-3.

Ryton, well served by Dan Ryan, were on course to maintain their six point advantage through goals from Liam Goodwin, Adam Bell and Nathan Reed, but Haltwhistle did their west neighbours a favour as goals from Andy Archer, Andy Wrightson and Mark Banks earned them a point. Stu Sproul was named man of the match.

Star man Freddie Allan was on fire as his five goals fired Adam and Eve Prudhoe to a convincing 7-3 triumph over Rose and Crown Bellingham.

In what will be their final season after tendering their resignation to the league, Prudhoe picked up the points as Scott Turley also netted twice, meaning strikes from Lewi Clint, Mark Robinson and Lee Rand, and a man of the match display from Liam Anderson, was in consolation for Bellingham.

Prudhoe Town and Crawcrook Fox and Hounds drew 1-1 in Division B of the Mick Simmons Trophy. Alan Taylor notched and Martin Nugent was star man for Town, while Scott Fothergill netted and Ben Coulson starred for Crawcrook,
