THERE was no county cup hangover for Ponteland United as they kept alive their faint promotion hopes with a convincing victory last night (25/04).

Days after lifting the Northumberland FA Minor Cup on Friday evening, they defeated Felling Magpies 5-2 in Division One of the Northern Alliance, Reece Havelock-Brown and Gregg McDermott both hitting doubles and Alex Benjamin getting the other.

There was a big win for Ponteland United Reserves too as a hat-trick from Daniel Hadfield helped them to a 6-2 win over Wardley in the Tyneside Amateur League.

Joining the man of the match on the scoresheet was Daniel Troughton, Conor Brumwell and Gary Oliver.

Second half goals from Jossy Wright and John Wright saw Alston Moor Sports Club to a 2-0 win over Wolsingham in the Crook and District League, while Prudhoe Town returned from Spennymoor Town Reserves with a 2-2 in the Wearside League.
