THERE may have been no goals, but Wallington’s game with Whitley Bay A was anything but a bore draw.

The Premier Division encounter was a cracker in the sense of chances created and football played, even if neither side could find the killer touch in front of goal.

Wallington were particularly frustrated as they hit the woodwork on three occasions, the hosts doing everything but score.

Strikers John Paxton and Dan Thompson also caused endless problems for the Bay defence, who remained stubborn at all times despite relentless pressure.

The home side will be pleased with the work rate from their players, battling hard all over the pitch to ensure Whitley didn’t get too much of a sniff on the day.

They have a chance to build on the performance with a home game with Newbiggin at the weekend.
