MARC Nixon's five star performance boosted Barrasford's chances of claiming third spot in Division One.

The striker was on fire as his five goals earned his side a 6-1 victory over Bardon Mill Bowes Lyons , sending his side four points clear of fourth placed Prudhoe Social Club having played one game less.

Man of the match Nixon's five strikes saw him move four off the league's leading goalscorer Dan Kirkup, of leaders Haltwhistle Jubilee, as it took him to 21 for the campaign.

He was joined on the scoresheet by teammate Andy Richardson, who netted his fourth of the term.

Bardon Mill's leading marksman Rob Hayes again found the back of the net as he hit his seventh for the season, while Jason Elliott was named man of the match.

Mill welcomed back duo Rob Graham and Billy Rogan from Division Two promotion hopefuls Haltwhistle Railway into their 13-man squad, but they were unable to prevent the hard working visitors from going down to their improved hosts.
