MARC Nixon pounced in extra time to send Barrasford into the next round of the Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup.

The striker added to his strike in normal time as his side, best served by midfielder Will Forsyth, edged past hosts Whitley Lodge Snooker Club 2-1 in the first round of the countywide competition.

There was no such luck for Halfway House Prudhoe as they lost in extra time, going down 6-4 at Shankhouse United in an end-to-end thriller.

Matty Robinson scored twice and Ant MacDonald and an own goal also went down on the scoresheet, but United pushed on to eliminate Prudhoe who had defender Danny Driver starring.

Division Two leaders Heddon St Andrew‘s also crashed out as they went down 2-0 at home to Blucher Social, despite a man of the match display from Mark Richardson.

Scott Douglas inflicted the damage on his former teammates as the man of the match scored twice to help new team Prudhoe Town to a 3-0 win over Stocksfield . Ollie Rodley got the other, while Dean Barnard was Stocksfield‘s star man.

Haltwhistle Railway felt the wrath of Swinburne Arms Stamfordham who returned to full strength in time for their Division Two match up.

After the previous weekend‘s 21-0 drubbing against Haydon Bridge Anchor, it was their turn to hand out the heavy defeat with Greg McDermott and Andrew Davidson both hitting hat-tricks in the 8-2 triumph.

Kyle Young and Joe Slade also netted while Dan Finnigan was man of the match, with Haltwhistle’s goals coming from Mark Storey and Connor Dickinson. Stu Sproul was star man for the hosts.

In the only game in the Tommy Jackson President’s Cup, Division One conquerers Haltwhistle Jubilee defeated Division Two newcomers Adam and Eve Prudhoe 6-0.

Goal-scoring extraordinaire Dan Kirkup helped himself to a hat-trick, with teammates Greg Irwin and Jack Barker joining him on the scoresheet with the other coming through an own goal. Man of the match Dion Parker pulled the strings for Haltwhistle, while Andy Knotts, who was shown a straight red card, again shone for Prudhoe.

Ryton Social Club , of Division Two, eliminated Bardon Mill Bowes Lyon from the division higher from the John Pickworth League Cup with thanks to a 4-1 victory.

Jada Doris scored two and Jordan Martlew and man of the match Martin Smith one each, with Adam Walton replying and 16-year-old Billy Rogan star man for Mill.

Phoenix Chopwell were pushed close by Hexham Hearts before edging to a 3-2 win, the goals coming from Nathan Kirk, Paul Myers and man of the match Richard Kendall. Dan Toward and Ben Turnbull netted for Hearts, while Tom North was man of the match.

After dishing out the drubbing on Stamfordham the week before, Haydon Bridge Anchor forfeited their tie with Division One‘s Hexham Phoenix as they were without 16 players through injury or work commitments.
