NEW signing Kris Willis made an instant impact for Wallington.

For he rescued a point for his new club with two late goals against Red House Farm, the equaliser in the 4-4 draw coming with the last action of the game.

Wallington were trailing 4-2 with five minutes to go until the newcomer from Newbiggin stole the show to ensure it was two points from two games for the Scots Gap side.

His first goal came from a cross-cum-shot which caught everybody out, and his dramatic leveller also had a high degree of fortune about it as it cannoned off numerous bodies before finding its way over the line. It was another entertaining draw for Wallington as they took the lead in the opening half through John Paxton, before finding themselves with a mountain to climb as they shipped three quick goals.

Paxton netted again after the break to give Wallington hope, but the hosts looked dead and buried following a fourth Farm goal.

Yet, Willis had the last laugh to earn the home side a second point of the campaign.

He again got on the scoresheet as Wallington beat Shankhouse 3-1 on Wednesday, the Greens’ first victory of the new season. Willis was joined on the scoresheet by Paxton and Adam Barker, who got his first for the club.

The three points mean Wallington are now three games unbeaten following their opening day defeat to Seaton Delaval.

They hope to continue their unbeaten run when they travel to Percy Main Amateurs on Saturday, and welcome Birtly Town to Oakford Park on Wednesday.
