FOUR second half goals maintained Hexham’s unbeaten start to the season.

The youngster scored all of his team’s goals as they came from behind to defeat Forest Hall 4-3, making it three wins from their opening three Division One games.

Hexham were up against it in the first half, having to contend with a strong wind against them as the hosts looked to use the weather to their advantage. However, the visitors dug in deep and saw off the threat to turn around goalless.

After their excellent work against the wind, they were undone early in the second half when Forest Hall went in to take the lead just two minutes after the restart.

But then Hexham came to the fore and he levelled with a sensational goal just two minutes later.

Racing on to a ball over the top, he attempted to lift the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper’s head from distance and it settled into the back of the net for 1-1.

They were soon 2-1 ahead when he reacted first following a goalmouth scramble from a corner, giving his side the impetus to push on. It was a similar situation when he completed his hat-trick, pouncing during a scramble before Forest made for a nervy 20 minutes when they clawed back a goal to make it 3-2.

He made it four when, under pressure in the corner, he ran towards goal and then smashed a great effort on goal to make it 4-2. There was still time for a late scare when Tom Hacking was unfortunate to see the ball smack off his knee and end up in his own net after goalkeeper Tom Craney had made the initial save.

Hexham weren’t able to extend their 100 per cent record to four games as mistakes were punished in their 3-0 defeat to Seaton Burn in midweek.
