A LAST minute penalty saw Corbridge United U12 edge the top-of-the-table clash with their Tyne Valley rivals.

Ralph Robson sent home the late spot kick to earn the second placed side the three points over table topping Stocksfield U12 , bringing a pulsating, end-to-end encounter to a dramatic finale.

Corbridge came racing out of the traps and took the lead in the first half through a well struck shot from distance from Morgan Blythe.

Stocksfield's fight back was thwarted until midway through the second half when, after an effort was cleared off the line, Joel Garvin Dawson equalised with a low shot which just squeezed in between the goalkeeper and post.

Both teams poured forward in pursuit of a winner and it was Corbridge who found it from the pen spot, finding the back of the net moments after Stocksfield hit the post at the other end.

While all players starred in the fantastic fixture, Adam Panchyshyn was named Corbridge's man of the match, with defender Ben Yates earning Stocksfield's equivalent.

Stocksfield U15 maintained their nine point advantage at the top of the Durham County League as a single Ben Ramsey strike saw them to a hard earned victory over Langley Park.

They were made to work extremely hard for the maximum points, and were indebted to a man of the match display from goalkeeper Hugo Banks.
