A TREBLE from Josie Cawood helped Hexham U12 to maximum points in the Northumberland Girls‘ League.

The star striker put her side 3-0 up against Le Championette opponents Bedlington Town Tornadoes who roared back to get to within a goal, only to be thwarted thanks largely to a star performance from defender Eliza Nicholson.

Ponteland United U12 fell just short in their match-up with Newcastle East End, losing to the odd goal in five despite a brace from Erin Mason. Maisie Aspinall was player of the game.

Girl of the game Izzy McKenna pulled the strings from  Wylam Rockettes U15 as they defeated Consett 7-2. Her accurate passing was the highlight of a game where both Georgia Briggs and Sophie Rogers scored hat-tricks, the other goal coming courtesy of a Consett own goal.

In their first game for months due to the weather, Ponteland United U15 acquitted themselves before going down 3-0 to Bedlington Town Bulldogs. Goalkeeper Yasmeen Amer was named star player.

Goalkeeper Shauna Henderson earned the girl of the game accolade for Haltwhistle United U16 as they lost at home to Morpeth SC.

A slow start proved costly for Wylam Rockettes U16 as they lost 5-2 at league leaders West Moor, Ellen Packham and Ellie Ridley with second half strikes for Wylam who had Tanya Bewley, making her 100th appearance for the club, starring in defence.
