CORBRIDGE United U16 continue to set the pace at the top of Pin Point League Four after putting five without reply past their opponents.

They were excellent in their 5-0 triumph over hosts Wideopen Wanderers, George Cook with two goals and Jack Stewart, Will Hands and Matty Pugh one each. George Arkley was named man of the match.

An equaliser in the dying moments from Sam Fairhurst earned Ponteland United Pythons U12 a 2-2 draw with Berwick Rangers in League One. Owen Latimer had netted earlier for United, while Paddy Kendall and Liam Brooks shared the man of the match award.

Ponteland United PSG U14 took the chance to go top of League One as their game at Wallsend BC Yellows was the only league game to beat the weather, PSG convincing as they claimed the 5-1 victory.

Haydon Bridge United U14 were on the losing side by the same scoreline in League Three as they lost at home to Wideopen Wanderers.

Wylam Rockettes U12 ran out 7-4 victors over Tyne Valley rivals Hexham U12 in an end-to-end Northumberland Girls League fixture.

On song striker Stacey Billinghurst scored a further four goals for Wylam who made it four wins on the bounce, while Josie Feniwck netted a hat-trick.

Naomi Calendar and Lucy Grainger came in for particular praise too as they soaked up a lot of pressure applied by the Hexham midfield.

Wylam Rockettes U16 player Ellen Packham made a pivotal intervention to help Northumberland Schools to a nail biting 3-2 win over their Durham counterparts.

With Northumberland leading 3-2, Durham pushed looking for a last minute equaliser but were thwarted when Queen Elizabeth High School pupil Ellen put in an exceptional last ditch tackle to prevent her opponent getting the shot away.

It helped earn her county, which also featured Ponteland pupil Rebecca Hiles, the glory in the Northern Counties’ Schools’ FA Inter-County Championship match-up.

A trio of pupils at Ponteland helped Northumberland’s U16 boys’ team progress to the third round of the English Schools FA National Cup. Goalkeeper Will Hogarth, and midfielders Jamie Beckwith and Jake Jensen starred as the North county edged past Lincolnshire.
