FEMALE footballers from Prudhoe recovered from a slow start to record two wins in a Northumberland tournament.

Highfield Middle School represented Tynedale at the U11 English Schools FA Danone 7-a-side tournament, and claimed six points as they won their final two games of the contest.

They took time to settle into their stride at the Coach Lane event but, once they did, they were in top form and they ended the five game competition with five goals to their name.

Highfield qualified for the county final after blitzing the West Tyne event and finishing on top of the field of five local teams.

They met close rivals Ovingham Middle School in the final and found the only goal of the game to make it through.
