A HAT-TRICK from Will Forsyth rekindled Hexham’s hopes of promotion.

Having slipped to third in the Division One table after going down 3-2 to Heaton Stannington A at the weekend, Forsyth’s treble helped return the team to winning ways in their 5-3 success over Monkseaton on Wednesday evening.

Joining him on the scoresheet were teammates, Kurtis Harvey and Luke Parkinson , but they remain level on points with second placed Grainger Park who enjoy a superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, a goal from Alex Nisbet 20 minutes from time saw Ponteland United disrupt Killingworth Town’s challenge for the Premier Division crown.

United, who are ultimately out of the running despite currently occupying the runners-up spot, are making Town work hard if they are to be crowned champions of the Alliance, with the 1-0 victory keeping them narrowly ahead of their opponents.

Ponteland went into the game on the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of an improving Shankhouse side.

With just three games to go, Ponteland United Reserves’ hopes of clinching the Tyneside Amateur League title were boosted by a 13th successive victory.

Man of the match Simon Reay scored twice, and Darren Parkes and Daniel Troughton one each as they defeated North Shields Athletic Reserves 4-0.
