HEXHAM and District Sunday League rivals Heddon St Andrew's and Barrasford will tough it out for a place in the next round of the county cup.

The teams that finished second and third respectively last term have been drawn together in the first round of the Northumberland FA Sunday Cup.

The draw, made today (August 11), will see Hexham Phoenix on their travels to Newcastle Westfield Social and Bardon Mill Bowes Lyon welcome Ashington RAOB to Tynedale. The ties take place on September 24.

The district's Saturday teams learned of their first round opponents in the Senior Benevolent Bowl, with Ponteland United travelling to Northern Alliance Premier Division rivals Ashington Colliers.

Wallington are at home to fellow Premier outfit North Shields Athletic, while Wearside League side Prudhoe Town are up against Alliance opponents as they will host Percy Main Amateurs.

Hexham, of Alliance Division One, will resume hostilities with Grainger Park, a team which pipped them to promotion in May. The ties are scheduled for October 14.

In the Women's Cup, Prudhoe Town Women have been drawn at home to Cramlington United Ladies on October 15.
