HEXHAM U14 overturned a half time deficit against local rivals Wylam Rockettes U14 to lift the Wade Financial League Trophy.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, two quick goals after the restart saw the Hexham side clinch the Northumberland Girls League trophy after a competitive final at Morpeth Town’s Craik Park.

In a game when both defences were solid, Wylam found the breakthrough midway through the opening period when the ever dangerous Hannah Dodgeon latched onto a rebound and fired home from the right of the box from a tight angle.

Hexham responded almost immediately after the restart scoring two goals in relatively quick succession, Ellie Wright and Jess Dancer finding the back of the net for the green and whites.

The Rockettes looked to counter and Courtney Peel was particularly unlucky to see her well struck shot hit the far upright, Hexham defending resolutely to weather a storm of increasing pressure in the final 10 minutes.

Hexham had goalkeeper Jennifer Turnbull largely to thank for keeping her side ahead and she was named player of the game by representatives from the league.

Wylam Rockettes U13 warmed up for their upcoming cup final this weekend by signing off their league campaign with a resounding victory over Montagu and North Fenham.

In striker Stacey Billinghurst, they have a player in great goalscoring form as she scored five during a girl of the game performance. Josie Fenwick scored two, and Lucy Cheesman one.

Josie Cawood continued her rich scoring form as she scored both of Hexham U13’s goals in the 2-0 victory over Swalwell Swifts. Iona Burville was named star player.

Wylam Rockettes U16 finished their season with an entertaining 2-2 draw with Tynemouth United, recent signing Elley Rainer and girl of the game Sophie Rogers finding the back of the net.It followed a defeat in midweek to league champions Bedlington Town Bulldogs, Rosie Spragg scoring their consolation goal while defender Emma Rankin received the star player award.

Stocksfield Lions U12 fought back from three goals down to maintain their push for promotion from Division Five of the Russell Foster League. They shared 10 goals with fellow title contenders Whickham Fellside in the end, coming back from 3-0 down as two goals from Joel Garvin Dawson and one each from Ellis Findlay, Charlie Bennett and Shea Sullivan saw them to the 5-5 draw. Sandy Dodgeon was named man of the match.

Star man Archie Leonard hit four as Stocksfield U14 defeated Wallsend in the Pin Point Recruitment Saturday League. He was joined on the scoresheet by Joe Glenwright, Angus Graham and Jake Lynch.

Prudhoe YC Reds U15 face a wait to see if they have done enough to secure a top two finish in League Five after a win, a draw and a defeat in the space of a week.

They remained in the hunt for the league championship as they started with a 6-4 victory over Heaton Hawks, man of the match James Reay scoring four and Stephen Wilson two.

However, they were just playing for second place after being held to a 2-2 draw with Red House Farm with Cartey Pusey and Billy Taylor netting, and Alex Hall star man.

They signed off with a narrow 4-3 loss to the same opposition, two goals from man of the match Billy Taylor and one from Carter Pusey just falling short.

Goals from man of the match Josh Trewitt and Ben Milner were not enough as Corbridge United U15 were edged out 3-2 by Bedlington Lightning in League Three.

The 10 men of Hexham U16 caused many problems for Stakeford in League Two before the hosts recorded the 4-0 victory, Olly James starring for Hexham.

The goals rained down for Prudhoe YC Galaxy U13 in the Gateshead Youth League as they put Redheugh Blacks to the sword.

Jack Swinburn scored four, man of the match Bradley Powton and Brody Pusey three each, Callum Pattinson and Matthew Robson two apiece, and Owen Dent, Ryan Tomlinson, Kieron Pinchen and Ben Ellison with one.

Zak Campbell and Josh Maguire scored to secure a 2-2 draw with Felling Whites for Prudhoe YC Tigers U12 , with Andrew Bell named man of the match.

Joe Dalby hit a consolation for Prudhoe YC Rockets U12 as they went down 3-1 to Cleveland Hall, with Harry Rankin man of the match.

Hexham Greens U13 remain top of the North East Youth Development Premier League as the season nears an end.

They defeated Monkseaton 4-1 at the weekend, Matthew Kilby scoring twice and Toby Ferguson and Daniel Simpson getting the others in a game which Alex Waters impressed.

Two late goals from Forest Hall denied Allendale U13 victory. Conrad Thompson and man of the match Dan Priestly gave Allendale a 2-0 advantage at the break with Dan scoring after the break to put his side back ahead after their lead was cancelled out. However, the two late goals earned Forest all three points.
