A COUPLE of hat-tricks helped Prudhoe YC Seniors pick up their first ever victory in fantastic fashion.

Three goals each from Ben Pearson and Adam Greenwood earned the Tyne Valley side a crushing 8-1 success over West Allotment Celtic A in Division Two of the Northern Alliance.

Despite their hauls, they were overlooked for the man of the match award by impressive midfielder Joe Finnerty, while Scott Johnson and Adrian Sutfcliffe also pushed him close.

Pearson got the scoring under way with a calm finish, before Paddy Finnerty set up Greenwood for his first of the afternoon.

Finnerty then helped himself to the third, before Greenwood and Pearson added their seconds to take it to 5-0 at the break.

Both then completed their hat-tricks to round off the rout, either side of a Phil Murray strike.

Striker Kurtis Harvey came to Hexham‘s rescue to earn the team a point in a dominant display at Newcastle Chemfica.

With it all one way traffic in the second half, they were finally rewarded for their hard work when Harvey knocked home the ball on the stretch with 79 minutes on the clock.

But he had teammate Lewis Loughhead to thank for the gift, the youngster breaking through and putting in a low cross which put it on a plate for his poacher teammate.

Chemfica had led after 10 minutes, a routine training ground move allowing Joe Robertson the space to fire past Sean Heads.

The first half was an even contest, Marc Nixon going close on two occasions for Hexham while Heads was called into action a further two times. It was all Hexham after the break and Tony Lancaster was denied by ex-Hexham keeper Peter Holland and Nixon shaved the post with a long range effort.

They must have thought it wasn’t going to be their day when Harvey had an effort bounce on the line and out after cannoning off the crossbar, until the same man finally found the breakthrough.

Strikes from Michael Armstrong and teenager Reece Havelock-Brown was enough for Ponteland United to see off a late scare from Hebburn Reyrolle.

In a first half dominated by United and which saw both Connor Graham and Havelock-Brown hit the crossbar, they went in at the break just one goal ahead when Armstrong forced the ball home following a deflected cross.

The lead was doubled 20 minutes after the restart when Graham played it back to Havelock-Brown, and he curled a sublime shot into the top corner.

Despite all their dominance, they faced a nervy final five minutes when David Stansfield turned inside and curled a consolation past Michael Bertram.

Two late goals rescued a point for a Wallington side who ended with 10 men when they traveled to Northbank Carlisle.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, The Greens battled back with goals in the final 10 minutes to earn a share of the spoils.

Matty Blackith got the comeback on track with a strike in the 82nd minute before winning a penalty two minutes from time which was converted by Ashley McAlpine. The result ended on a sour note though when Greg Reardon was sent off a minute later.

There was more Wearside League misery for Prudhoe Town as they were thumped 5-0 in their first home game of the season by Wolviston.

They were unable to compete with the away side and remained on four points for the season with a lot of work to do to move from the lower echelons of the table.

Alston Moor Sports Club conceded a second with five minutes remaining as they were held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Woolsingham.

Callum James had given Alston the lead midway through the first half, but they were pegged back right on the stroke of half time.

Alston continued to create and looked good value for the victory when Nathan Frazer smashed home a half volley from 25 yards, only for the 85th minute leveller to ensure it was honours even.

On Wednesday evening, Prudhoe YC led through goals from Jordan Phillips and Paddy Finnerty but were pegged back by Whitburn.

Prudhoe Town conceded a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Silksworth CW, but Ponteland United defeated Longbenton 4-1. It was a bad night for Wallington as they lost 6-0 to Red House Farm, with Hexham going down 4-0 to Wallsend Boys’ Club.
