HALTWHISTLE Jubilee were unable to exact their revenge as Amble Tavern again stood in the way of their county cup dream.

Having lost 2-0 to the formidable Morpeth Sunday League outfit in last year’s Northumberland FA Sunday Cup final, they were beaten by the same opposition at the quarter-finals stage this time round.

Haltwhistle again gave it a good go and were level at 2-2 at one point through goals from Scott Jacobsen and Reece Thirtle, however Amble remain on course to retain the title.

The Hexham Sunday League conquerers were knocked off top spot in Division One by Heddon St Andrew’s , although they do enjoy a two game advantage.

Heddon edged ahead by one point as goals from man of the match Mark Murtagh, Dan Walker, Jamie Lishman and Jonathan Wood earned them a 4-2 victory over Bardon Mill Bowes Lyons , who had Rob Hayes on target twice and Jack Currah starring.

Ponteland Village became the fourth team to be joint on 15 points at the top of Division Two following their slender 3-2 triumph at Hexhamshire .

The three points came courtesy of strikes from Rohit Thamman, James Pattison and David Bambrough, with Glen Tweddle and Dan Nattrass on target for ‘Shire. Michael Jobson was Ponteland’s star man, and Josh Dodwell was named the home side’s equivalent.

Prudhoe Social Club progressed to the quarter-finals of the League Cup as they put seven goals past Division Two side Crawcrook Fox and Hounds . Matthew Hopkins, Michael Gilroy and Marc Sagar all hit two for the hosts, with James Curry getting the other, while James Watson was named man of the match. For Crawcrook, David Findlay registered and Conor Robertson was star man.

Doubles from Tony Lancaster and debutant Ben Rodgers mean Hexham Phoenix are through to the final eight of the competition too. For they defeated Division Two leaders Haltwhistle Railway 4-1, Stuart Sproul replying and Jack Barker man of the match for the hosts.

Adam and Eve Prudhoe will meet Prudhoe Social Club in the quarters of the President’s Cup as they edged out Prudhoe Town East End 2-1 in the second round.
