AN EXTRA time winner from Will Forsyth (right) booked Hexham a quarter-finals date with Hebburn Reyrolle.

In a game they looked comfortable in, they were level at 2-2 after 90 minutes with Gateshead Redheugh before Forsyth eventually secured their progress.

The winner came when he latched on to a forward pass and confidently shrugged off the challenge of an opponent before firing home. It came just moments after a lobbed attempt of his skimmed the crossbar, this time the midfielder making no mistake to guide Hexham through.

Hexham opened the scoring just two minutes in after a flowing counter attack, Hamish Forsyth released by Kurtis Harvey to unselfishly square it to finish off the great move.

The visitors were playing some excellent possession to starve Redheugh of the ball, but they took their foot of the gas and were punished as a misplaced Hexham pass was picked up by Michael Heckles who levelled things on 21 minutes.

Gateshead were ahead six minutes later, the impressive Robert Allen striking home from just inside the area.

The half time whistle came at the right time for a startled Hexham, and a change in formation, and the introduction of Robbie Pattison, injected life into the away side.

Similarly to the first half, Hexham needed just a matter of minutes to find the back of the net when Harvey powerfully connect to a Will Forsyth corner to draw level.

Hexham pushed for the decider but were kept out, but the arrival of new signings James Watchman and Sam Armstrong from the bench saw them dominate and resulted in Forsyth’s match winning strike.
