FULL back Ben Dobson showed the Prudhoe YC Seniors how to do with a wonderful match winner.

The defender scored his side’s only goal in the 1-0 victory over Cramlington United - and it was one to savour.

Picking the ball up on 21 minutes, he let fly from 25 yards and his screaming effort left the visiting goalkeeper with no chance as it hurtled into the back of the net.

It was left back Dobson’s second goal of the season, and he became the only scorer for Prudhoe from their opening three games.

At the other end, he was part of a defence which kept a second successive clean sheet as Prudhoe refused to let United in despite playing some good football, particularly in the second half.

They held out despite some intense pressure from Cramlington late on, with right back Jack Bell standing out most to pick up the man of the match award.

Prudhoe couldn’t continue their winning ways as they were thumped 5-1 by Ryton and Crawcrook Albion A on Wednesday, Sam Brown withe their consolation.

They will look to bounce back as they head to Spittal Rovers on Saturday and then host Forest Hall on Wednesday night, both in the league.
