Having raced in to a two-goal lead in the opening seven minutes of the fixture, they were pegged back by their visitors who went on to take the game 3-2 in contentious circumstances.
At 2-2 at the break, Stokesley took the lead for the first time two minutes into the second half although Seb Hanratty seemed offside by some distance as he slammed home the deciding goal.
To rub salt into Prudhoe’s wounds, their hopes of getting something from the game when two goals were ruled out to prevent them improving on their 13th position.
The hosts got off to a flying start and broke the deadlock within minutes of kick off, and the best was to come on seven minutes when creative midfielder Derek Waters beat the visiting goalkeeper with a sensational effort from half-way.
At the other end, Stokesley looked dangerous from corners and Rob Moncur diverted one home on 10 minutes to add to the explosive start to the game.
They levelled on 24 minutes, Moncur getting his second before Hanratty’s disputed goal early in the second half earned Stokesley the points.
