A TRICKY trip to Burradon and New Fordley awaits Prudhoe Social Club after they progressed in the county cup.

Their hosts were losing finalists in the prestigious Sunday Cup last term, and are tipped to go in the way in this year's Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup.

However, an in-form Prudhoe side stand in their way after they defeated Ashington Town 5-1 in the first round at the weekend, Matty Fothergill scoring twice, and Kieran Russel, Michael Gilroy and Graeme Hudspith once each. Stefan Rainbow stared for the home side.

Prudhoe Town were eliminated by Tyneside Irish during a contentious game.

Scott Douglas had given Prudhoe the lead from the penalty spot, but Irish edged it 2-1 as they were awarded a disputed penalty themselves in the final minute.

The winner followed Tyneside's equaliser, which again caused uproar with Town convinced the player was yards offside. Colin Hardwick starred for Town.

High Street Blyth booked a trip to Haydon Bridge Anchor as they disposed of Prudhoe Town East End 4-1, Luke Dodds netting and Joe Eadington starring for Prudhoe.

Bridge bounced bak to winning ways to progress in the President's Cup, two goals from man of the match Kieran Robley and one from Mark Elliott earning them a 3-1 victory over Heddon St Andrew's .

Michael Connelly registered and David Wadds was named man of the match for Heddon.

Two goals from Chris Chapman and one each from Craig Stobs and Adam Bell saw Ryton Country House defeat Division Two side Wylam Black Bull 4-1.

Richard Fox was named Ryton's star man while Scott Turley earned the accolade for Wylam, who had William Quinn on target.

Bardon Mill Bowes Lyons scored 11 for the second week running as they thumped Hexham Hearts 11-1 in the League Cup.

In-form striker Rob Hayes scored four and there were hat-tricks from both Jamie Ellwood and Neil McDonald, with John Armstrong getting the other.

Rikcy Hayes was named man of the match, with Hearts' star man Joe Shepherd credited with their consolation.

Barrasford and Hexham Phoenix shared eight goals when they met in Division One.

Marc Nixon scored a hat-trick and Gareth Rhodes the other for a Barrasford side best served by Owen Murtough, while doubles from man of the match Tony Lancaster and James Stokoe earned Phoenix a point.

Lee Henderson struck late on to earn Crawcrook Fox and Hounds a 3-2 win over Haltwhistle Railway in Division Two.

Haltwhistle's star man Jack Barker netted twice to cancel out goals from Rikki Kent and man of the match Lee Peacock, but Henderson earned the points with his late winner.

Glen Tweddle scored twice, and Nick Coward, Mark Stobbart, Ben Mole and Kevin Rogerson once each as Hexhamshire , best served by Nathan Riley, beat Rose and Crown Bellingham 6-1. Ryan Gardner registered for the visitors with Liam Anderson named man of the match.
