A DOUBLE from star man James Curry helped make it three wins from three for Prudhoe Social Club as they sent a big message to the rest of the Hexham and District Sunday League.

They put five without reply past last season’s runners-up Hexham Phoenix with Shaun Stewart, Graeme Hudspith and Andrew Finnie also on the scoresheet. Stephen Marsden was named man of the match for the hosts.

Halfway House Prudhoe put five past Stocksfield as Adam Greenwood, Lee Blackburn, Matty Robinson, Adie Sutcliffe and Harry Mitchell found the back of the net in the 5-1 success. Sam Brown was man of the match, while Stocksfield‘s equivalent went to their scorer Sam Moore.

Haltwhistle Jubilee made it two wins from two as Thomas Wilkie, Ryan Potts, Neil McDonald and an own goal guided them to a 4-0 win at Prudhoe Town. Mark Robson was star man, with Ollie Rodley Town’s best servant.

Newcomers Haltwhistle Railway denied Ryton Social Club making it three wins on the bounce as they inflicted a 3-2 defeat on their Division Two rivals.

Lewis Weeks, Andy Archer and Connor Ridley produced the goals and Matty Ballantine was man of the match, with Nathan Reed and Andy Below on target for Ryton, best served by Jordan Martlew.

A hat trick from man of the match Dan Walker helped leaders Heddon St Andrew‘s extend their 100 per cent record to three games.

With teammates Michael Connelly and Mark Richardson also on target, they defeated Rose and Crown Bellingham 5-1, Harry Davidson with the away side’s goal and Phil Suckling named man of the match.

Kieran Robley was at the treble too as Haydon Bridge Anchor beat Hexhamshire 8-3. Ewan Bissett scored twice with man of the match Mark Elliott and Jason White getting one apiece, with Hexhamshire‘s goals coming from Lee Riley, Phil Tipple and man of the match Chris Hodges.

Oliver Garbet produced a last-minute winner to get new boys Adam and Eve Prudhoe up-and-running, edging out Swinburne Arms Stamfordham 4-3. Matt Harrison, Nathan Moore and Andy Knotts also netted for Prudhoe. Tom Phillips scored two and Ross Phillips one for Stamfordham, whose star man was Alex Lawson.

Phoenix Chopwell progressed past the second preliminary round in the Durham FA Sunday Cup courtesy of a 3-0 win at Teesside’s Eaglescliffe, Curtis Lucas, Johnny Leck and Daniel Spoor with the goals and Andy Smith star man.
