A DRUBBING at the hands of Hexham Phoenix was the final straw for Halfway House Prudhoe .

The team have resigned from the league with immediate effect following their 12-0 defeat against their rivals, manager Duncan Graham feeling badly let down by his players for the final time.

The situation was so bad at the weekend that the 60-year-old was forced to play the final 20 minutes himself to make up for the shortfall of numbers.

Phoenix were only too happy to take full advantage on the day to reach double figures, with striker James Stokoe reeling away in celebration four times, while Matthew MacLoughlin scored three and Kurtis Harvey netted twice.

Man of the match Tony Lancaster, James Owen and Tom Hacking completed the scoring.

Haltwhistle Jubilee went back to the top with a 5-0 victory over bottom side Hexham Hearts .

Mark Robson scored twice and man of the match James Charteries, Dion Parker and Mark Elliott scored one each, with Hearts best served by Ben Turnbull.

Scott Douglas bagged a brace and man of the match Luke Banks, Taylor Lowes and Conner Kenny also netted in Prudhoe Town’s 5-2 triumph over Bardon Mill Bowes Lyon s, who had star man Neil McDonald scoring twice.

Barrasford and Prudhoe Social Club shared the points in a 1-1 draw, Will Forsyth netting for Barrasford and Matty Fothergill scoring for Social. Hamish Forsyth and Stefan Rainbow were the team’s respective men of the match.

Haydon Bridge Anchor lost for the first time in Division Two as leaders Ryton Country House forced home their advantage.

Kieran Robley gave Bridge, best served by Phil Tipple, the lead but a double from from Jordan Martlew and one each from Chris Chapman and Adam Bell meant the points were staying in Ryton. Andrew Below was star man.

An 89th minute winner from Craig Robson meant Haltwhistle Railwa y kept the pressure on at the top.

He added to a brace from teammate Jack Barker, cancelling out strikes from Ponteland Village’s Liam Rutherford and Ian Todd during the 3-2 victory. Michael Telford starred for Haltwhistle, while James Pattison was Ponteland’s man of the match.

A hat-trick from Gary Cook, a double from Ethan Bewley and singles from man of the match Reece Havelock Brown and Jake Lynch saw Ponteland United Stamfordham to a 7-3 triumph over Prudhoe Town East End .

Two goals from man of the match Ben Coulson and strikes from Rikki Kent and Lee Henderson earned Crawcrook Fox and Hounds a 4-1 win over Hexhamshire .

Alex Martin was on target for ‘Shire while goalkeeper Grant Bowman man of the match.

Heddon St Andrew’s were denied a place in the semi-finals of the Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup as they lost 6-1 at home to Benwell Springbank. Dan Ramshaw got their goal and Ross Bailey was man of the match.
