TEAMMATES of Heddon St Andrew’s player Scott Flynn are showing their support as he battles testicular cancer.

Players and committee members at the Hexham and District Sunday League have signed up to do a sponsored swim in the ice cold North Sea at Longsands Beach, Tynemouth, on December 27.

The 24-year-old striker, who scored twice for the side in their opening day victory over Adam and Eve Prudhoe, recently had an operation to remove one of his testicles.

He is currently awaiting the results of a CT scan and biopsy to see if the cancer has been removed.

In the meantime, his mates have signed up to raise funds for the Freeman Hospital, in Newcastle, where he received treatment through the swim - no matter what the weather.
