They conceded two penalties, both converted by Jamie Abley, as they shared six goals with Middlestone Moor Masons Arms.
The teams went into the break level at 2-2 after Nathan Frazer’s two opening half goals were cancelled out, the Alston striker giving his side the lead after a weaving run and restoring the lead after finishing when clear on goal.
Masons further profited straight from the kick off for the second half with another spot kick, Abley again finding the back of the net as his powerful drive beat Jason Williams despite getting a hand to the effort.
It took a huge effort for Alston to drag themselves back into the game, and they earned a point when Jake Shephard ran onto a through ball and calmly controlled the pass before chipping it over the keeper.
The point was a good way for Alston to start the season and they performed well throughout the fixture, defender Jack Ellwood particularly impressing.
