FOR the second weekend running, the entire Hexham and District Sunday League programme was wiped out by the cold snap.

No games in the league have been played over the past two weekends, with just the one game going ahead in the past three weeks. In that fixture, Division Two sides Wylam Black Bull and Hexham Hearts picked up a point each.

It has been a slow end to the year for the teams, who will enjoy a two-week Christmas break before recommencing on Sunday, January 7.

When the action resumes, weather permitting, Division One side Haydon Bridge Anchor will welcome North Tyneside Irish with a place in the semi-finals of the Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup up-for-grabs.

The rest of the teams will be in league action, with Division One leaders travelling to Hexham Phoenix. Third placed Prudhoe Town head to bottom club Ryton Country House, while Barrasford welcome Prudhoe Social Club.

It is touch tight at the top of Division Two, and current table toppers Crawcrook Fox and Hounds recommence with a home game with Rose and Crown Bellingham.

Second placed Haltwhistle Railway head to Wylam Black Bull, while third hosts fourth when Ponteland Village and Hexhamshire meet. In the other fixture, Prudhoe Town East End and Hexham Hearts will go head-to-head.
