WHILE the North East's football teams may be nowhere near the Premier League Trophy, the iconic piece of silverware made an appearance at Ponteland Middle School on Wednesday.
There was a special assembly at 9am on Wednesday, where Glenda and the students listened to a talk from Premier League representatives Ellis Danby-Smith and Samantha Cochrane.
Headteacher Caroline Pryer allowed children to come in wearing their favourite football strips.
She said: "We're absolutely thrilled to host the Premier League Trophy.
"Our PE teacher Mr Pagget has coordinated everything. All the children wore their favourite team's shirt, or dressed smart like me - I don't know one end of a football from the other!
"The children paid £2 each to wear home clothes."
The trophy remained on display all day, and all pupils at the school got the opportunity to have their photo taken with the cup.
As part of the prize from the auction, the school will also receive a new set of football strips - a pink and black kit to be used predominantly by the Year 7 team.
