WYLAM Rockettes U14’s League Cup tie with Bedlington went to sudden death in penalties, with Wylam keeping their cool to go through to the semi-finals.

Annie Jones scored the crucial penalty with stand-in goalkeeper Sally Watson then sticking to her side of the bargain to book their place in the final four.

The game ended 3-3 at full time and 4-4 after extra time, girl of the game Ella Miller inspiring Wylam, who had Stacey Billinghurst scoring twice and Katie Cheeseman and Josie Fenwick once each.

Hexham U14 were on the losing side of a penalty shoot-out, though, as they went down 4-2 to Cramlington United despite Ellen Shaw and Nell Forster converting their spot kicks.

They had been level at 2-2 during normal time courtesy of a Jelly Dixon brace, while Hannah Johnson was star player.

A double from girl of the game Ellie Wright wasn’t enough for Hexham U15 as they lost 4-2 at Forest Hall.

A rare goalless draw was played out between Wylam Rockettes U15 and Newcastle Benfield, with Rosa Edwards starring in defence for Wylam.

Molly Hails converted a penalty and Izzy Flynn was girl of the game as Wylam Rockettes U16 lost 4-1 on their travels to Newcastle East End.

Abby Hunter starred for Wylam Rockettes U13 in their 3-0 defeat to Newcastle Benfield, while Ponteland United Revolution U13 lost to the only goal in their game with Swalwell Swifts and Ponteland United Pride U13 shipped in four goals at home to Wallsend BC.
