THIS weekend sees the return of the Hexham and District Sunday League – but one familiar team will be missing.

The Globe from Hexham have been ever-presents in the league since it was founded, but lack of players has seen the club fold.

But there will be some new faces on display, including one of the youngest teams in the league’s history – Prudhoe Youth Club U18s.

Other newcomers include Ryton FC, and Bardon Mill.

With Prudhoe Town without a fixture in the Northern League, the spotlight falls in the Northern Alliance, where in the premiership, Wark and at home to fellow new boys Murton.

In the second division, Hexham play hosts to Forest Hall – but not on their home pitch at Wentworth,which is out of commission.

The “home” game will therefore be played at Haydon Bridge, where the local team have been forced to drop out of the league.
