WARK put up a good fight but were unable to deny Mitford B from making it three from three.

A solid all-round display had the North Tyne side asking big questions of their hosts, but Mitford knocked off the runs in the 33rd over to win by four wickets.

Wark opened the batting and Greg McConnell (below) and Stephenson racked up the runs in a good second wicket stand to edge the score past 100.

McConnell’s knock came to an end when he was caught by Colin Crowe off Michael Briggs, with Mike Thorpe helping Stephenson along.

Mitford faced some good bowling in their reply but Crowe and Joe Jackson got them off to a good start before the former was run out by McConnell.

Thorpe then struck with three quick wickets to give Mitford a scare, but a combination of Neil Brewer, Edwards and Briggs saw them to victory.

Stamfordham made it 60 points from a possible 60 as they defeated Corbridge Millers in a high scoring game.

Benn Horncastle was their star with the bat, making his half century to help the team to an innings total of 227. He and Richard Gardener got the scoreboard moving freely, with Jack Lambert continuing the good work.

Mark Terry and Connor Garrett-Jowsey struck to remove seven wickets between them, but a solid unbeaten knock from Joe Lonsdale pushed Stamfordham’s score on.

Veteran Ian Donkin impressed with the ball to restrict Corbridge’s run chase, fitting that he ended the game by having Charles Reid caught by Lonsdale.

Corbridge were steady away without really troubling their guests, Kiel Zurawlew, Gary Chamberlain, Alasdair Hall and Garrett-Jowsey all making double figures.

Allendale II won for the second time this season as they returned from Clara Vale II with 17 points.

Clara Vale posted a good score of 180 from their 40 overs, David Lee impressing at number three as he batted throughout when introduced to proceedings.

Captain Andrew Porteous and fellow opener Elliot Lea saw them off to a solid start, with Lee and Deepak Vedhara upping the rate later on. But Allendale captain John Raglan spearheaded his side to the win, hitting five fours and two sixes as he passed his 50.

Rhys Scott impressed towards the end of the innings, his unbeaten 44 seeing him hit six fours and a six.

Dan Tait’s impressive start to the season saw Belsay to a third win of the campaign.

He and Richard Mills both took three wickets to defend Belsay’s score of 111, seeing Medomsley all out for 87. Captain Allan Johnson took two wickets for just seven runs as he played a big part too.

After a slow start which saw Johnson and Jasper Gray go early, Mills, Chris Townson and Matty Fenwick all reached their 20s to see the team pass a collective ton.

Haltwhistle II defeated Humshaugh II by 66 runs as they removed their hosts three runs shy of the 100 mark. Mitford A were rewarded maximum points to keep them at the top as Wylam II conceded, while Stocksfield IV forfeited their fixture with Hexham Leazes II.
