CORBRIDGE bowed out for less than 100 as they lost at home to Berwick.

Chasing 140 set by the away side, they were all out for just 92 on a day to forget for the Stanners‘ side.

Corbridge put Berwick into bat and openers Gregor Thompson (19) and Lee Mark (13) made 27 until Mark was lbw to David Hardy (4-30).

Hardy struck again to remove Thompson, caught by David Cox, and Martin Hush (9), lbw, to put the away side on 54-3. The next ball, he sent Richard Davison packing for a king duck.

The arrival of Brian Simmons (42) at the crease pushed Berwick on despite Andrew Dover (2-37) claiming two quick wickets to see Berwick go from 70-4 to 70-6.

Jack Garret (2-26) dismissed John Simmons as the away side neared the 100 mark, but they pushed on until Msason Emery (4) was caught by Michael Kirchner off Dean Robinson (2-9).

Berwick were to finish on 140, Garret and Robinson to take the two remaining wickets with Robinson having danger man Simmons caught behind by Ross Atkinson.

Atkinson (14) and David Smurthwaite (5) made 18 before the latter was bowled by Thompson (2-30), pairing Atkinson with Cox (8), promoted from the third team, as they took the team to 45.

Cox and Garret (1) fell in quick succession, and Atkinson became the fourth man to fall with the score on 49.

Andrew Dover (0) lasted just two balls, with Chris Fowler (14) coming in and seeing them his team to 63 before sending one back to bowler John Simmons (7-40).

It was Simmon’s fourth wicket and he followed it up by claiming Harry Oliver (14), Kirchner (0) and Mike Stephenson for six off 46 deliveries.

In between his haul, Michael Shearer (1-19) had Robinson (1) bowled with Hardy (0no) last man standing with Corbridge 48 runs behind.

Corbridge II lost by seven wickets as they made the trip to Stobswood Welfare II.

They made 109 as they opened proceedings, John Maude (26), Marcus Sewell (22), Chris Todd (17) and Graeme Tiffin (18) with some useful contributions.

But Stobswood, with the aid of a half century from opener Esmond Black, reached the target in the 22nd over, youngster Cameron Szweda (1-33) and John Maude (1-2) with the wickets.
